Over the years, The Rookery has produced many top class bowlers who have played at County and even International level. Currently we have many bowlers who have in recent years achieved county honours including Middleton Cup representation. These include Carl Finbow, Calvern Kemp, Richard Leeder, Ian Ward, at senior level, and Joshua Finbow and Marcus Fuller at under 25 level. However, one player stands out with his record, Mark Royal and his profile is as follows.
Mark Royal has reached National Finals 15 times and won the England Champion of Champions in 2003. Mark was an outdoor England International in 1998 to 2000 and was in England's Top Rink (Suffolk) in 2001. At club level Mark has won the Club Singles for the past 9 years! He was Club Captain in 1996 and President in 1998. At indoor bowls Mark's record is even more remarkable. He has reached 18 National Finals, represented the England and British Team at under 25 level and has been an England International from 1997 to 2004. He won the England Champion of Champions in 1999 and the England Triples in 2001. Mark is currently ranked number 6 in the World (Indoors).
