ROOKERY TOURNAMENTS

Open Tournament

Every August, the Rookery Bowls Club holds its Open Tournament. This is open to all Bowlers, male or female, young or old.

It is a triples competition and is limited to 32 teams. Each team plays a mini-league against 3 other teams. The winners of each league then play in a knockout. There are cash prizes for the winners, runners-up and losing semi-finalist.

Lunch and tea are available and the bar is open all day.

Junior Tournament

The Junior Competition, run by Mark Royal in September, is open to all Suffolk juniors not exceeding 15 years old on the 1st September. This is a free event and there is no entry fee.

Numbers are restricted to 32 players. Each player plays a mini-league against 3 other players. The winners of each league then play in a knockout. All players not in the knockout singles, play in a knockout triples.

First prize this year was a set of Taylor's Bowls . Runners up and triples winners received a Bowls Bag and a voucher to spend in Bowlsworld. All players received a medal, a Bowlsworld voucher and a goody bag. Prizes were presented by guest of honour, Greg Harlow.

There was a free buffet lunch for all players and spectators. A free barbecue was also provided after the final. The bar was open all day.

Potters Leisure Centre provided a free holiday, which was a much sought after raffle prize!
